Corticosteroids Agents

- Hydrocortisone contains a low-potency corticosteroid, known to have topical anti-inflammatory and anti-pruritic 
  properties useful in the treatment of a wide variety of dermatological disorders, particularly in areas of thin skin such 
  as facial and intertriginous areas.
  These include dermatitis (atopic, contanct, nummular, seborrheic), inflammatory dermatoses, eczema, intertrigo,  
  lichen planus, discoid lupus erythematosus, polymorphous light eruptions, anogental pruritus and facial psoriasis. 
 

- Hydrocortisone cream contains:
     hydrocortisone             1%
- Hydrocortisone ointment contains:
    hydrocortisone              1%
 

- Hypersensitivity to (hydrocortisone)
 

- Generally, local or systemic side effects do not often occur with the use of low-potency topical corticosteroids like 
   hydrocortisone.
 

- As corticosteroid may mask or enhance infections, the use of supplemental chemotherapy should be considered 
  whenever there is possibilty of bacterial infection.
- Topical corticosteroids should not be used extensively, in larg amounts, or for protracted periods during pregnancy 
  and lactation.
- The same precaution applies for infants and children, especially in infancy dermatoses including napkin rash, where 
  treatment should be limited to 5 - 7 days.
- Prolonged use on the face is better to be avoided as well. Keep away from the eyes.
- More potent corticosteroids are contraindicated in infants under 1 year.
 

- Tubes containing 15 g cream or ointment.
 

- Store at temperature below 25°C.
