GYNO-M

GYNO-M

- Gyno-M®  ovules is highly effective, as it contains
   miconazole nitrate and metronidazole .
- Metronidazole has antiprotozoal activity against
Entamoeba histolytica (intestinal & extra- intestinal
forms), Trichomonas vaginalis, Giardia lamblia and
  Balantidium coli.
- Metronidazole is also active against a wide range of
obligate anaerobic bacteria, including Bacteroide spp.,
Fusobacterium spp., and Clostridium spp., various
  anaerobic cocci, and Gardnerella vaginalis.
- Miconazole nitrate inhibits the biosynthesis of
ergosterol in fungi and changes the composition of
other lipid components in the cell membrane, resulting
in leakage of the essential intracellular constituents, and
finally leads to fungal cell necrosis.

  Each vaginal ovules contains:
- Miconazole Nitrate  200 mg
- Metronidazole          750 mg

- Hypersensitivity to one or both ingredients of the
   product.

Due to the limited systemic availability after vaginal
application, clinically relevant interactions occur very
  rarely.
- In patients on oral anticoagulants, such as warfarin, caution
should be considered and the anticoagulant effect should be
monitored , because anticoagulants activity can be
potentiated by product  administrated intravaginally .
- Contact should be avoided between latex products (such as
contraceptive diaphragms and condoms) and Gyno-M®
vaginal ovules, since intravaginal preparations of
  Gyno-M® may damage them.
- The effects and side effects of some other drugs (e.g., oral
hypoglycemic and phenytoin), when co-administered with
Gyno-M®, can be increased and caution should be
  exercised

- Use during pregnancy : As systemic intravaginal
absorption of miconazole nitrate is limited, no adverse
effects have been reported when using of Gyno-M®,
however it  is preffered to not be used during the first
trimester of pregnancy, unless  when considered essential
to the welfare of the patient.
- Use during lactation :It is unknown whether intravaginal
miconazole is excreted in breast milk .
However, problems in humans have not been documented,
  caution should be considered .

- Gyno-M® vaginal ovules are usually well tolerated.
some adverse reactions have rarely been reported
including local irritation or sensitivity include mild
burning sensation, erythema, and vaginal itching,
  vaginal discharge, abdominal cramps, headache,
especially at the beginning of treatment.

- If local irritation and hypersensitivity reactions occur,
  treatment should be discontinued .
- General hygienic measures should be observed to control
  sources of infection or reinfection.
- Appropriate therapy is indicated when the husband partner
  is also infected.
