Sincomin
The active component of Sincomin® is Butamirate
citrate which is a cough suppressant used in
non-productive cough and stated to have a central
action.

- sincomin® calms coughing and irritant coughs during
colds.
- On medical prescription, Sincomin® can also be used
to treat acute coughs of other origins.
-The oral solution is artificially sweetened and thus can
be used in diabetics.
Drops for children:
- Infants over 2 months: 10 drops 4 times a day.
- Children over 1 year: 15 drops 4 times a day.
- Children over 3 years: 25 drops 4 times a day.
Oral solution (from the age of 3 years):
- Children (3–6 years): 5 ml 3 times per day.
- Children (6–12 years): 10 ml 3 times per day.
- Adolescents from 12 years: 15 ml 3 times per day.
- Adults: 15 ml 4 times per day.
- The oral solution should, if possible, be taken
before meals.
- If the cough lasts more than 7 days, medical
advice is necessary.
- Each 5 ml of Sincomin® oral solution contains:
Butamirate Citrate 7.5 mg
- Each 1 ml of Sincomin® oral drops contains:
Butamirate Citrate 5 mg
Hypersensitivity to Butamirate Citrate.
- should refrain from using medication which loosens
bronchial secretions (expectorants, mucolytics) at the
same time as using Sincomin® because the
accumulation of secretions in the bronchi, which
increases the risk of respiratory tract infection (e.g.
pneumonia) and can also induce a dangerous cramping
of the bronchi called bronchospasm.
You should only use Sincomin® during pregnancy or
lactation if advised to do so by the doctor.
- Skin rashes in rare cases, occasionally nausea, diarrhea,
dizziness or drowsiness.
- If you notice other side effects, please inform your
doctor or pharmacist.
Over dose:-
- An over dose Sincomin® can produce the following
symptoms:sleeping ,nausea , vomiting , diarrhea ,
vertigo and hypotension in this case give the patient
active charocoal and saline laxative and call the doctor.
- If the cough is productive (accompanied by abundant
expectoration), you should consult your doctor before
starting to use Sincomin®.
- Suppression of the cough reflex by Sincomin® favours
the accumulation of secretions in the bronchi, which
increases the risk of respiratory tract infection (e.g.
pneumonia) and can also induce a dangerous cramping
of the bronchi called bronchospasm. Thus you should
refrain from using medication which loosens bronchial
secretions (expectorants, mucolytics) at the same time as
using Sincomin®.
- Smoking reinforces coughing. You should support the
action of Sincomin® by refraining from smoking.
- This medication can affect reactions, the ability to drive
and the ability to use tools or machinery.
- Please inform your doctor, or pharmacist if you or your
child suffer from another disease, are allergic, or are
already taking other medicine whether internally or
externally (even self-medication).
