Cloxamin 500

- CLOXAMIN® is a broad spectrum formulation of  
 Ampicillin and penicillinase stable Cloxacillin. 
- CLOXAMIN®exhibits bactericidal activity against 
 a wide range of Gram positive and Gram-negative 
 organisms including: Streptococci, Staphylococci 
 (including penicillinase-producing strains), Neisseria 
 spp., H.influenza, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis 
 and Salmonella spp. 
- Both Ampicillin and Cloxacillin are acid stable and 
 moderately well absorbed from the gastro-intestinal 
 tract after oral administration producing a good 
 blood level. 
- CLOXAMIN® is metabolized to some extent and  
 excreted in the urine. 
- In patients with normal renal function, higher and 
 more levels may be achieved by the concurrent 
 administration of probenecid.

-Each capsule of CLOXAMIN®500 contains: 
 Ampicillin 250 mg (as Ampicillin Trihydrate USP) 
 Cloxacillin 250 mg (as Cloxacillin Sodium  
 Monohydrate USP)  
-Each capsule of CLOXAMIN® 250 contains: 
 Ampicillin 125 mg (as Ampicillin Trihydrate USP) 
 Cloxacillin 125 mg (as Cloxacillin Sodium 
 Monohydrate USP)  
-Each 5ml  of CLOXAMIN® 250  for oral suspension 
 contains: 
 Ampicillin 125 mg (as Ampicillin Trihydrate USP)
 Cloxacillin 125 mg (as Cloxacillin Sodium 
 Monohydrate USP)
-Each 0.5 ml of CLOXAMIN® 90 Neonatal Drops 
 contains:
 Ampicillin 60 mg (as Ampicillin Trihydrate USP)
 Cloxacillin 30 mg (as Cloxacillin Sodium 
 Monohydrate USP)

CLOXAMIN® should not be given to patients  
 hypersensitive to penicillins. 

CLOXAMIN® should not be given to patients

As with other penicillins, side effects are usually 
 infrequent, mild and transient including diarrhea, 
 indigestion, and occasionally skin rash. 

- Capsule 250 mg or 500 mg     
 (Blister of 10 capsules, Pack of two blisters)
- Hospital packs of different sizes.
- For oral suspension (Bottle of 100 ml after  
 reconstitution)
- Neonatal drops  (Bottle of 10ml after reconstitution)  

- Store in a dry place at a temperature below 25°C.
