AMPICILLIN®  is a semisynthetic  penicillin  with a broad spectrum bactericidal activity against both penicillin-G susceptible Gram-positive and many common Gram-negative pathogens including: Streptococci, Diplococcus pneumonia, non penicillinase producing Staphylococci, Clostridia spp,Bacillus anthrax and most strains of Enterococci. 
AMPICILLIN®  is stable in the presence of gastric acid and well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. 
- Up to 40% of an oral dose is excreted in the urine within 6 hours of administration. 

 

- Each capsule of AMPICILLIN®  500 contains:
 AMPICILLIN® 500 mg (as AMPICILLIN® Trihydrate USP)
- Each capsule of AMPICILLIN®  250 contains:
 AMPICILLIN® 250 mg (as AMPICILLIN® Trihydrate USP)
- Each 5 ml of AMPICILLIN®  250 for oral susp. contains: 
 AMPICILLIN® 250 mg (as AMPICILLIN® Trihydrate USP)
- Each 5 ml of AMPICILLIN®  125 for oral susp.  contains: 
AMPICILLIN® 125 mg (as AMPICILLIN® Trihydrate USP)

AMPICILLIN®  should not be given to patients  hypersensitive to penicillins. 

-The possibility of a prolonged bleeding time following oral treatment with AMPICILLIN®   should be borne in mind in patients receiving anticoagulants. 
- Probenecid prolongs the half life of AMPICILLIN®   by competing with it for renal secretion and may be used therapeutically for this purpose.

Administer under close medical supervision.

As with other penicillins, side effects are usually infrequent, mild and transient, including diarrhea and skin rash.

Reduced dosage is required in patients with impaired renal function, neonatal and premature infants

Capsule 250 mg or 500 mg

Hospital packs of different sizes.
 For oral suspension 
                 (Bottle of 100 ml after reconstitution) 

- Store in a dry place at a temperature below 25°C.
