- Tetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic produced from certain Streptomyces spp., acting by
inhibition of protein synthesis of bacteria making it effective in the treatment of wide range of
infections caused by gram positive and gram negative bacteria.
- Tetracin®ointment is used in the prophylaxis and treatment of localized skin infections caused
by organisms that sensitive to Tetracycline HCl e.g. acne, superficial pyogenic infections, postular dermatitis, infections associated with minor burns and wounds. In the case of deep skin wounds caused by organisms sensitive to tetracycline or in the case of infections that can be transformed into an internal inflammations, it becomes necessary to address the
comprehensive treatment (both internally and topically).
- After cleaning the skin gently and thoroughly, the ointment should be applied directly to the
involved area at least two to three times a day or as directed by a physician. Treatment with
Tetracin®ointment should be continued until complete healing is achieved
- Each 1 gram of Tetracin® ointment contains:
Tetracycline HCl 30 mg
- The prolonged use of antibiotics may occasionally result in overgrowth of non-susceptible
organisms including fungi. If new infections appear during medication, a physician should be
consulted.
- Tube of 15 g ointment.
- Store at temperature below 25° C.
