Antiemetic

- VOMIN® is antiemetic and antinauseant formulation of

 meclozine hydrochloride and pyridoxine hydrochlorid. It

 diminishes vestibular stimulation & depresses labyrinthine

 function. It acts also on the medullary chemoreceptor trigger

 zone to exert its antiemetic, antimotion sickness & antivertigo

 effects.

- Meclozine hydrochloride has a sedating antihistamine with

 antimuscarinic and moderate sedative properties so it is used

 in the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting

 associated with a variety of conditions .

- In addition, the presence of pyridoxine in the formulation

 makes it beneficial in pregnancy due to the conversion in the

 erythrocytes to pyridoxal phosphate, the active form of the

 vitamin B6, which acts as a coenzyme for various metabolic

 functions affecting protein, carbohydrates and lipid

 utilization.

Indecation

 - Nausea & vomiting of pregnancy.

- Antiemetic agent for emesis induced by drug, post anesthetic

 vomiting, postoperative, and motion sickness.

- For management of vertigo caused by Meniere’s disease and

 other vestibular  disorders .

Dosage & Administration

- In severe nausea and vomiting of pregnancy: One dose of

 VOMIN®  at bedtime and one doses in the morning.

- For prevention of motion sickness: One to two dose of

 VOMIN® taken 1 hour before traveling, to be repeated every

 24 hours as needed.

- As antivertigo: One to four dose of VOMIN® as needed in

 divided doses.

- For postoperative vomiting: Two dose of VOMIN®  four

 hours before surgery.

- Or as directed by the physician.

- Each capsule of VOMIN® contains:

   Meclozine hydrochloride        25 mg

   Pyridoxine hydrochloride (Vit. B6) 50 mg

- Each  Tablet of VOMIN® contains:

   Meclozine hydrochloride        25 mg

   Pyridoxine hydrochloride (Vit. B6) 50 mg

 

- Contra-indicated in patients on levodopa therapy  (Pyridoxine

 decreases efficacy of levodopa.)

- A previous hypersensitivity to this product.

 

   VOMIN® may enhance the sedative effects of CNS depressants

 including( alcohol, barbiturates, hypnotics, opioid, analgesics,

 anxiolytic, sedatives, and antipsychotics) .

- VOMIN® may suppress the cutaneous histamine response to

 allergen extracts and should be stopped several days before skin

 testing

 

 Meclozine may be excreted in breast milk and it may be inhibit

 lactation due to its antimuscarinic action.

 

 Drowsiness, blurred vision and dryness of mouth, nose and

 throat

 

- Drowsiness is a major problem with sedating antihistamines

 and those effected should not drive or operate machinery;

 alcohol should be avoided.

- VOMIN® should be given with caution to patients with

 impaired liver function.

- Due to the potential anticholenergic action of meclozine

 hydrochloride, this drug should be used with caution in patients

 with asthma, glaucoma, or enlargement of the prostate gland. 

Packaging:-

                 Blister of 10 Capsules, Pack of Two blisters.

-VOMIN®  Tablets.

              Blister of 10 tablets, Pack of Two  blisters.

- Store in a dry place at a temperature between 15° C – 30° C .
